Living off the land
These past weeks , or months, have lost track of time a bit, I have been at my summer house or croft/cottage, eating berries and soon fruits from the garden. Cherries, blackcurrants, wild strawberries, raspberries and gooseberries. Later in the summer there will be apples, pears and rose hip. Then of course here are wild herbs and mushrooms that I'm unfamiliar with, but should learn more about. Aside from munching on berries I have been renovating as much as I can with my bare hands and simple tools. As all the electric tools were stolen I have settled for the traditional hammer and hand saw when mending the porch before painting it. I think it turned out quite well considering I initially deemed it a lost case. The house in itself needs to be painted as well. Fortunately it has been painted with traditional red paint that is a bit more environmentally friendly than newer paints that contain more metal, and it's cheaper too. If I know myself well enough I will probably not be able to restrain myself from getting started with that too. However, the other week there was a huge rain storm, almost like a tornado that came straight towards the house and tore off a board from the window, so there will be need for some mending before painting. Not to mention all the garbage that is still left from the cleaning out of the interior that must be taken to the dump. I really need a bigger car, a truck. A functioning lawn mower as well. Thankfully a neighbor helped out clearing out the worst of the wilderness. Still enough left for the bees though. Other than that I am thoroughly enjoying the fresh air and silence.
Hope you are enjoying the summer too and have opportunity to spend time in nature.
Best regards
Angelina
